Photos showing the digger on site. I am lucky enough to be able to sit and watch all the activity from the window of Little Pines. The soil is very peaty and there is a lot to come out but we have plenty of space to disperse it round the site. When the digger gets going the whole ground 'wobbles' and at times Little Pines wobbles too. Phil assures me it won't fall down! Basil is having a wonderful time chasing around and is not at all worried as long as Phil is out there.

Imogen and Ken are in Hertford this weekend - they are due back this afternoon - what a surprise they will get as we were not due to start digging until tomorrow. It is such a lovely day Donald (Cameron) - the digger driver waanted to get on with it!

Keep posted and I shall keep the site updated regularly so you can all see how things are progressing

Today the digger has arrived and after 18 months of trial and tribulation it looks as if at last Phil and I are about to see the start of the build of our new home. We still have to sign the Section 75 agreement but it is promised this will happen this week and then Dafydd Jones, our local planning officer, will be able to issue the full planning permission. Building warranty is being processed and there are no problems with that as it stands. I am able to show you picture of the site - notice the Birch Tree on the one of the site to the left. The view over the Nevis Range through the pine trees will be the view from our front windows. We are going to call our new home Eilean Beith after the Birch Tree - a Dormy Birch. It literally means Birch Island.
